News Story: ABBA To Reunite?

Despite agreeing that the show shouldn’t go on over 30 years ago, ABBA seem to be becoming more active in the past six months, and are creeping back into the spotlight.
Late in 2016, reports started to surface that the legendary 70’s/80’s disco-pop super group would be reuniting in late 2017 early 2018 for a ‘secret project’. They will be working with Simon Fuller to create an experience with the increasingly popular use of virtual reality.
ABBA have been one of the most- if not the most- successful bands to come out of the disco/pop-rock movement of the 1970’s. Normally associated with being an 80’s band, they actually took a lot of influences from the glam rock movement of the early 70’s, which can be seen in some of their more flamboyant stage outfits.
The play Mamma Mia and film adaptation, of which Benny Andersson was heavily involved with, have both had huge commercial success, keeping ABBA’s music alive for generations of today to love.
So what could this secret project be about?
It is now April 2017 and no further news stories have yet surfaced, despite numerous online articles saying ‘full details of their new project will be announced in 2017’. In an article on itv.com, Simon Fuller said the project would explore ‘a new technological world, with virtual reality and artificial intelligence at the forefront, that will allow us to create new forms of entertainment and content’.
Does this mean ABBA will be following in the footsteps of Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley and taking to the stage to belt out classics such as ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘Dancing Queen’ as holograms? We hope that's what it sounds like and would be an innovative way for ABBA to appeal to music listeners of the 21st Century. Let's just see if we have to wait any longer before the full details are announced.
